When we think about successful women in construction, we often picture the milestones—the promotions, the thriving businesses, the major projects, and the leadership roles they’ve earned. What we don’t often hear about is everything that happened before those accomplishments.
We rarely hear about the meetings where they questioned whether they should speak up, the projects that didn’t go as planned, or the difficult conversations they replayed in their minds long after the workday ended. We don’t talk enough about the pressure to prove ourselves, the challenge of balancing work and family, or the moments when confidence felt just out of reach.
The truth is, those experiences are far more common than most of us realize.
Many women become experts at carrying these challenges quietly while projecting confidence on the outside. It’s easy to look around and assume everyone else has it figured out—that you’re the only one wondering if you’re making the right decisions, leading well enough, or capable of taking on the next opportunity. But every accomplished leader has a story that’s far messier than her résumé. Behind every title is someone who learned through trial and error, overcame setbacks, and continued showing up even when things felt uncertain.
That’s exactly why we created FORCE.
Our goal has never been to simply build another professional network. We wanted to create a community where women could have honest conversations about the realities of building a career in construction—where questions are welcomed, experiences are shared openly, and no one feels like they have to navigate the journey alone.
